“Dr. Yin’s generous contributions to education remind me of a saying of Kahlil Gibran: ‘You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.’ Dr. Yin’s unpublicized giving over the decades has truly moved me.” ─ C.V.Chen

「我欽佩尹先生創辦唐獎。在籌備過程中,尹先生也接受了我的建議,納入「法治」(ru
在我心目中,「法治」獎得主,應該是那些透過法治的教育與實踐對全世界最大多數的人產
“I admire Dr. Yin for founding the Tang Prize. During the preparation phase, Dr. Yin accepted my suggestion to include a prize category for the Rule of Law, because I think it would be a regret if the Tang Prize did not recognize the importance the Rule of Law has in our world. After including Rule of Law as a prize category, Dr. Yin has often been heard to say, “Without the rule of law, we have nothing.” This resonates exactly with how I feel. According to the Tang Prize Foundation charter, the definition of the Rule of Law is as follows: ‘With the conviction that all individuals are born equal, the Rule of Law means that law should govern and everyone, including states and international organizations, is accountable to the law, including international law, that law should encompass due process and substantive justice, and that ultimately, law should champion peace, human rights, and sustainable development in order to serve the common good of humankind and nature.'”
“In my opinion, the recipients of the prize in the Rule of Law should be persons or organizations who, through implementing and educating others about the Rule of Law, have brought the greatest benefit to the maximum number of people around the world. That would make them truly deserving of the award.” ─ C.V. Chen
